On Monday 5 December 2022, the City started removing derelict sections of the Strand Jetty as it market the end of an era for the community. Many reacted with dismay and disappointment as one of the Helderberg's most recognizable landmarks would soon be something of the past.
Only sections of the structure will be removed, however it will affect the entire shape of the linear jetty as it will be dotted with gaps while it appears to be only a matter of time before the rest will follow suit.
In addition this photograph was taken to reminisce on it's lasting memories where wedding ceremonies were held, photo shoots, fishing lessons and casual strolls at sunrise and sunset.
